Creator Terms

These Creator Terms supplement the Terms of Service and apply in addition to them. If the two conflict on a creator-specific topic, these Creator Terms prevail.

They apply to every member who uploads music to So Far So Good — whether you call yourself a producer, artist, band or Creator. Uploading a project means you accept them.

Every time you upload, you confirm that:

• the music is your own work and you own or control all rights in it, including any samples, vocals or co-productions it contains;
• no label, publisher or other agreement prevents you from sharing it here or from delivering Early Copies to Supporters;
• keeping track of the project’s pre-released status is your responsibility — if it gets signed or released, you decide whether it should stay on the platform.

You are responsible for claims arising from music you upload, as set out in the indemnity section of the Terms of Service.

Uploading is available to members only. Publishing requires ticking the rights confirmation on the upload form — your confirmation that you own the necessary rights to the music, or have permission from the rights holder(s) to share it. Projects publish when you upload them — there is no editorial review, which is why the promises above matter. Files can be WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3 or M4A, up to 360 MB per file. Your masters are stored in private storage with no public URLs; members stream previews through private links that expire after one hour and cannot be used to download the file.

Your projects appear publicly as Anonymous. Whether and when to reveal your identity is entirely your choice — typically Creators reveal themselves when accepting support. Be aware that a reveal is practically irreversible: once other members know a project is yours, the platform cannot make them forget it.

So Far So Good may promote music uploaded to the platform wherever it reaches an audience: on the platform itself, in the radio stream, in newsletters, and on social channels — including short clips of your tracks. Getting music heard is what the platform is for, so this permission is part of uploading rather than a separate switch.

Your anonymity travels with it. Promotion never attaches your identity to your music unless you have chosen to reveal it, and it never gives away your Early Copy file — short clips only. This is permission to promote, not a transfer of anything: your copyright stays entirely with you.

Paid advertising — using your music in advertising we pay to place — is not covered by this permission. We would ask you for it separately.

Members sharing your music — a member can generate a short video of your track, always showing Unknown Artist, to post on their own social accounts with a link back to it. It is a per-version setting in your track settings and you can switch it off at any time. Doing so stops new videos being made; videos a member has already saved or posted stay on their accounts and cannot be recalled.

The Resident Promo Library is part of how we promote music here: approved Residents can download a version free to play in their sets and promote to their own audiences. It is a per-version setting in your track settings, and you can switch it off at any time. Files already downloaded by a Resident cannot be recalled.

For each project you set a private automatic unlock amount. Listeners never see it — they simply offer what the music is worth to them. A request at or above your amount goes straight to checkout. Requests below it wait for you: accepting agrees the price and invites the Supporter to pay, and only their completed payment unlocks the download. Declining never charges anyone. You can also switch Early Copies off for a project and use the platform purely for feedback.

An unlocked Early Copy Download is a full-quality copy of your uploaded master in its original format. Your stored master is never modified; each download is a freshly prepared copy with embedded metadata, including a unique six-character Download ID that lets us trace a leaked file to the account that downloaded it, and the copyright notice: “Copyright remains with the producer. Distributed through SoFarSoGood.”

A Supporter who unlocks any version of a project gets access to every version, including ones you upload later. What they may do with the file is limited by the Early Copy Terms — personal listening and DJ play, never redistribution.

Supporters pay So Far So Good. We record what you have earned from each payment and hold it as a balance you can cash out — you do not need a PayPal account to share music here, only to be paid.

New earnings settle for a short period before they can be paid out. That window exists so a refund or a payment dispute can be resolved before the money leaves — the current settling period is shown on your Earnings page.

Once your available balance reaches the minimum payout amount, you can request a payout of the full balance, less a flat payout fee. Both figures are shown before you confirm. We ask for your PayPal address, legal name and address at that point — never before — because sending money legally requires them. If a payout fails, the full amount, including the fee, returns to your balance.

If a payment is refunded or reversed after your earnings from it were already paid out, the reversed amount is recovered from your future earnings. Your balance can show a negative figure until it is; we will never ask you to send money back.

You are responsible for declaring and paying any taxes on your earnings in your own jurisdiction — we do not withhold taxes for you.

Refunds are handled by us under the Refund Policy — duplicate or accidental payments, failed Early Copy delivery, unauthorised payments, and removal for infringement. You do not have to process them yourself.

Of every payment, PayPal takes its processing fee first. What remains is divided between you and So Far So Good according to the share you chose for that track (below) — if you chose to leave nothing with the platform, all of it is yours. If that unlock came through a Track ID someone shared, a Track ID Reward comes out of your side of that split (below). The split is fixed at the moment of each payment and recorded with it, so it can never be recalculated later.

Every Early Copy on So Far So Good can be shared by other members through a rewarded Track ID — their own shareable code for your track. When an unlock happens because someone followed one of those shares, the member who shared it earns 20% of your net earnings from that unlock, and you keep the remaining 80%. This applies to every track and is not something you switch on or off.

It costs the Supporter nothing extra: the price is the same whether they arrived through a shared Track ID or found the track themselves, and an unlock that did not come through a share is untouched — you keep your full net.

The reward is calculated after tax, after PayPal’s fee and after the share you chose to leave with So Far So Good, and the rate is fixed at the moment of each payment and recorded with it. A member cannot earn a reward on their own purchase, and you cannot earn one on your own track. If a payment is refunded or charged back, the reward is reversed with it.

After each upload we ask how much of that track’s sales you want to leave with So Far So Good to keep the platform running. It is entirely your call, including nothing at all, and nobody else ever sees what you chose.

The share belongs to the track, not to your account: different releases can carry different shares. Your last answer is preselected on your next upload, and you can change any track’s share at any time on your Earnings page.

Changes apply only to future sales. Payments already made keep the share they were made at — nothing you do later can alter what you earned from a sale that already happened.

What you choose never influences discovery, rankings or radio play — your music is treated exactly the same either way.

Your copyright stays with you, entirely and always. So Far So Good takes no ownership share, no publishing, no exclusivity and no rights of first refusal. The phrase “Distributed through SoFarSoGood” embedded in Early Copies describes file delivery only — it is not a distribution deal.

You can remove a project or individual versions at any time. Removal takes the music off the platform, but Early Copies already delivered cannot be recalled — they remain with their Supporters under the Early Copy Terms. Supporters’ access to future versions naturally ends when there are no future versions to deliver.

The Community Guidelines apply to Creators too. In particular, do not manufacture support for your own projects — fake accounts, self-dealing or coordinated manipulation of So Good reactions and charts will lead to enforcement, up to account termination and forfeiture of fraudulent earnings.
